Membrane refurbishment for Nation’s Capital Swim Club

60’ x 120’ Sprung Structure 7,200 Square feet

At Vint Hill Farms in Virginia resides one of the oldest aquatic fabric structures in America. It has been used for decades by Nation’s Capital Swim Club, one of the nation’s premier clubs which lists Katy Ledeky, one of the most accomplished swimmers in our nation’s history as an alum. Over the years, the fabric roof of the facility had fallen into disrepair to the point where a huge whole had developed in the roof.

Signature was a natural partner for the project. Inspecting, maintaining, repairing and refurbishing fabric structures of all shapes and sizes regardless of original manufacturer is our core business. We had refurbished countless structures from the company that manufactured this building and was quite familiar with it. Our familiarity with the these structures al- lowed us to formulate a plan to refurbish the structure without shutting down the club.

Our approach included a system consisting large membrane panels that covered the existing membrane roof and walls in full. with a new tensioning system and architectural grade membrane. The system was designed to minimize interior work allowing all hanging systems to remain in place. Signature was able to perform the work with disrupting the club’s activities– in fact, they practiced inside the facility every day during the refurbishment!

The club once again has a facility that matches it’s reputation for excellence with new roof and gables fabric systems as well as completely refurbished removable door panels in the side- wall. They can look forward to many more years developing champions in this facility.
