|CHOCTAW RESORT & CASINO, GRANT, OK
The Choctaw Nation operates multiple casinos in Oklahoma. At several of these locations, they chose tension membrane structures to house their gaming or entertainment operations due to their cost-effectiveness, ease and speed of construction, and flexibility. The structure at the Grant facility was originally constructed by a company that ceased operations in 2009. The fabric used on the original installation claimed a 20-25 year life span but had degraded to the point where it required replacement in less than 15 years. In fact, the fabric had completely failed in one location, which caused the part of the framework to be exposed and damaged. Due to this, the Tribe was forced to shut down the structure and cancel performances scheduled to held inside.
The Tribe knew exactly who to turn to. Signature Structures had constructed the gaming facility at one of their other locations and the facility was a winner, more than meeting their expectations. They had also worked with Signature for inspections and maintenance of their facilities and knew of their attention to detail and professionalism. They first contacted Signature to perform an emergency repair of the panel that had failed, and we mobilized practically immediately. It was soon established, however, that the entire membrane roof needed to be replaced and a complete inspection was required to make sure the none of the structural steel was compromised. Once again, they entrusted Signature to restore their structure and ensure its safety, longevity, and aesthetic appeal.
The key part of the re-skin process that separates Signature from our competitors is our over-the-top method of membrane refurbishment allowing minimal interference with day to day operations throughout the installation process. In this case, however, the interior trusswork needed to be exposed and inspected. The Signature team worked closely with the Tribe to come up with a plan that ensured that no section would be exposed for an extended period, minimizing the possibility of weather exposure. For each bay, in a single day, the old fabric was removed, the steel inspected, the insulation repaired if necessary, and the new fabric panel installed. The entire process was completed in approximately three weeks and the Tribe was left with a structure that looked brand new and could be re-opened with confidence after a minimum of downtime.
No structure company in the industry performs more of this type of work than Signature. Our ability to inspect, maintain, and repair any fabric structure, regardless of original manufacturer makes us one-of-a-kind. The Choctaw Nation is thrilled with the like-new appearance and functionality of their structure, and no doubt their relationship with Signature Structures will continue long into the future.
